The long night of the apprenticeshop 2017

Gunskirchen, November 16th, 2017 - Young people and their parents learned about the possibilities of apprenticeship at BRP-Rotax at the "Lange Nacht der Rotax Lehrwerkstätte".

BRP-Rotax is a world market leader for powertrain engines has the goal to qualify world-class apprentices. A separate model, called Lehreplus, has been developed to make young people fit for the job market of the future.

About a quarter of all BRP-Rotax employees started their career with an apprenticeship. 18 percent of the management started their career with an apprenticeship. The dual training enables apprentices to combine the job with the Matura. About a quarter of the BRP-Rotax apprentices choose this route. The English Matura is an international standard conclusion.

The practice-oriented apprenticeship is offered in the departments aircraft, metal, process and automotive technology as well as mechatronics. About one fifth of the apprentices are young women.

Anyone who starts an apprenticeship at BRP-Rotax will receive a 12-month basic education in the modern apprenticeshop. It's all about robotics, 3-D printing or system control. As an innovative user of industrial production systems with digital control and robotics, BRP-Rotax is one of the pioneers of Industry 4.0.

Right from the start, apprentices are supported in the planning of their individual career. About a quarter of the apprentices complete with a high school diploma. In addition to team spirit and creativity, BRP-Rotax focuses on winning mentality. This is why outstanding performances get honored.

To strengthen the apprentice community, there are teambuilding and outdoor activities. In the first year, the "newcomers" are attended by a mentor to facilitate their step into work life.

The concept of LehrePlus encourages the methodological and social skills of young people. Courses and workshops raise awareness of health and safety at the workplace and teach the right way to handle money. In RIC projects, apprentices awake the joy of technology among children and teenagers.

BRP-Rotax has already been honored with various awards for its apprentice concept. 300 apprentices have successfully followed this path since 1954 and in the future more technicians should be prepared for this future-oriented sector. At the "Lange Nacht der Lehrwerkstätte" many of the young visitors received to start as an apprentice at BRP-Rotax.
