Mobile and healthy – Car-free day
European Mobility Week, an initiative of the European Commissions for Sustainable Mobility in Cities, took place from 16th to 22ndSeptember. It was introduced in 2002 to contribute to sustainable development in the transport sector. This year's motto was "Be flexible – Mix and Move!
The employees of BRP-Rotax took part in a literally crazy campaign: In keeping with our CSR theme for the year "Mobility and Health", we took part in the Car Free Day, which took place on Friday, 21 September.
More than 100 of our colleagues came to work without cars or in car pools that they had formed. As a thank-you they were welcomed with strengthening breakfast packages, which were handed out at the bicycle racks and at the station. Those who came to work in a carpool could pick up their breakfast or snack packages at the Visitor Center.
Our focus on mobility and health is crucial because it combines environmental considerations and the reduction of the CO2 footprint with physical condition, fitness and well-being – thus doubling the benefits.
Wolfgang Rapberger, Vice President Global Sourcing Powertrain & Operations Gunskirchen:" We participated super and I am grateful to all colleagues for that. Our interim results this year so far are 22,200 cycling kilometres and 3,400 car-pooling kilometres. This is a great result and an important signal."
