Health weeks heart fit @Rotax

BRP-Rotax organized the annual health days from April, 9th to 20th 2018, which were a special affair of the heart this year: Under the motto Herzfit@Rotax, cardiovascular problems were discussed and how to avoid them best was taught.

Health and safety are a top priority at BRP-Rotax, prevention plays a decisive role. That is why we have been organizing the Rotax Health Days for years, which give our more than 1,150 employees important behavioural tips and recommendations for action, from health checks to lectures and workshops, so that they can act on their own responsibility.

The Health Days are always dedicated to a specific theme, this time cardiovascular health. For good reason: cardiovascular diseases account for almost half of all deaths in Europe. Known risk factors include smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes mellitus, excessive alcohol consumption and psychosocial stress as well as factors directly related to individual lifestyles, eating habits and physical activities.

That's why a lot was offered at this year's Health Days: ABI tests (Ankle-Brachial-/Ankle-Arm-Index) for recognition of circulatory disorders, cardiovascular risk profiling with measurement of cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and BMI as well as fitness profiles with endurance tests. The extensive offer was supplemented by EMS training (electrical muscle stimulation), Shiatsu and outdoor training for holistic endurance, strength and coordination as well as fitness taster days in the company's own health and fitness centre doo it, which celebrates 10 years of its existence this year. Lectures were given on heart and psyche, stratified fitness, nutrition, sleep and addiction prevention, information on exercise, nutrition and relaxation as well as a special non-smoking seminar. For a tasty health boost in between, boxes with organic fruit were set up in all departments for free collection.

The results of the Health Days are documented in subsequent surveys to ensure sustainability. As it turns out, the satisfaction with the offers is high, the registrations were particularly fast this time, the events were almost fully booked in the course of a single day.

At Rotax, commitment comes from the heart: With events such as the Health Days, the company tries to raise awareness of its own health, recognize possible deficits in good time and provide tips for improvement measures and suggestions for a generally healthier lifestyle.
