Event in a class of its own for Can-Am Spyder Roadster drivers from all over Europe

Gunskirchen, June 13, 2016 – The Spyder Grossglockner Challenge is an event for Can-Am Spyder-Roadster enthusiasts from Russia to Turkey, from Finland to Germany and Austria. This year around 300 participants took part in the expedition.

Start point for Can-Am Spyder-drivers is home base, in other words the Gunskirchen site. A guided tour of the site demonstrates the technical precision involved in the production of these high-performance engines.

The first expedition took off from Gunskirchen to Altmünster via the Schlögener Schlinge, Schärding and Burghausen. At the evening event, Milos Laznicka, Regional General Manager & Eastern Europe, Russia & CIS, handed over a donation of € 5,000 to the Altmünster voluntary fire service. This was BRP’s way of thanking the people of Altmünster for their support at the annual Spyder Event.

The climax of the Spyder Grossglockner Challenge was the drive up the Großglockner. Those taking part relished every one of the 48 km, sweeping round 36 bends to a height of 2,504 meters. Their reward at the top: the unique panoramic views of the 30 “Three Thousanders“ in the National Park Hohe Tauern.

The evening event served to deepen impressions gained during the day. And on top of that there were five awards for Can-Am Spyder drivers. The male and female driver who had travelled the furthest each received an award. There was a prize too for the youngest participant, as well as the Spyder driver with the most kilometres on the clock and the one with the most originally personalised vehicle. Music for the evening was provided by “The Backwards” band; their rendering of Beatles songs hit the spot perfectly. Participants thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Spyder community.

Thomas Uhr, Vice-President BRP-Powertrain and General Manager BRP-Powertrain GmbH & Co KG., emphasised: “I am delighted to see so many enthusiastic Can-Am Spyder Roadster drivers here at this event: The Spyder Großglockner Challenge is for everybody an event in a class of its own and the number of people taking part demonstrates the extent of our expertise in the power sports vehicles segment”.

We are already looking forward to the 5-year anniversary of the Spyder Großglockner Challenge from June 8 to 10, 2017.
