BRP-Rotax: From summiteer and fitness challenges

Gunskirchen, April 30, 2015 – Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner is the star guest at the BRP-Rotax Health Day. Gerlinde, extreme mountaineer, speaks on the topic “The high mountains – my teachers”.

Strength training, endurance, running events, outstanding achievements: Colleagues at BRP-Rotax don’t just produce high-performance engines; they also look after their own health. And they are encouraged by the numerous opportunities the company offers, such as its in-house health & fitness studio, DOO it PLUS, also open to family members.

Thomas Uhr, Vice President BRP-Powertrain and General Manager BRP-Powertrain GmbH & Co KG explains: “A successful life requires a suitable balance between exertion and relaxation, between high performance and routine, between challenges and normal everyday life. With our comprehensive health program we provide the impetus for our staff to develop their creative ideas in a motivated and healthy way, so that top technical performances are achieved”.

On April 29, 2015 the “Rotax in motion” Health Day takes place. Gerlinge Kaltenbrunner takes visitors on a journey through her mountaineering successes. She was the first woman to conquer all 14 “eight-thousanders” without carrying a supply of oxygen and it took her thirteen years and four months - something that till now only 27 people from around the world have achieved. The extreme mountaineer told us: “Never underestimate the power of your dreams”.

BRP-Rotax employees are able to assess their own levels of fitness through a number of health checks. On BRP-Rotax Health Day we run balance, coordination and endurances tests for individual fitness profiles. Those who prefer fun and action can take part in the Challenge Disk where the focus is on coordination and responsiveness.

To complete the numerous opportunities on Health Day there are a number of courses – such as yoga and Zumba – and free taster training sessions with the fitness trainer in the health & fitness studio.

The Health Day is just one of the many measures taken by BRP-Rotax to promote staff health. It is part of a company-wide, holistic health program for which the company has been awarded several prizes. Using the slogan “DOO it! PLUS”, the company’s health concept has received, amongst other awards, the Upper Austrian Health prize 2014 within the category for over 100 staff members, and the WHP Seal of Quality.

“Prizes and awards are not the objective in our work. But we see them as validation for what we do”, says Thomas Uhr.
