Valencia, Spain, November 29, 2014 – BRP’s 15th anniversary of the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF) was celebrated in Spain and crowned the Grand Finals champions at the Kartódromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero in Chiva/Valencia, Spain this weekend.  

The 15th edition of the RMCGF completed another great season of karting with 288 drivers from 58 countries. This year’s Rotax Grand Finals Champions proved their talent and superior ability by mastering the obstacles presented by a track as challenging and technical as the Kartódromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero. The RMCGF championship week saw temperatures ranging between 5° and 10° Celsius, partly cloudy skies, and rain during the last two days of racing. The rain presented a new challenge for drivers and mechanics, as they had to readjust driving styles and chassis setups to be a competitive factor in the Grand Finals event.

“The level of the competition is increasing year after year. Of course this motivates us even more to make sure that the event is flawless and meets everyone’s expectations. The circuit has been tested several times by our team, and it ticked all the boxes. The track fulfils all the standards for international homologation, the asphalt is of the highest quality, extremely smooth and the layout very exciting,” said Helmut Voglsam, supervisor Rotax Kart engines.

The 2014 RMCGF Grand Finals champions include Jueri Vips from Estonia in the Junior class, the Spanish driver Carlos Gil in the 125 MAX class, Mikko Laine in the DD2 Masters class and Sean Babington in the DD2 class. The Nation’s Cup went to South Africa.  

In addition to the other 288 drivers competing in Junior MAX, 125 MAX, DD2 and DD2 Masters categories, the RMCGF hosted a four-day invitational event for 32 Micro MAX drivers from Portugal and Spain. Daniel Nogales emerged as champion in the Micro category. “For us a dream came true to host this major world event at our karting circuit. Holding the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals reaffirms the regional, national and now the international level of our circuit,” said Lucas Guerrero, owner of Kartódromo International Lucas Guerrero.

Valencia saw an impressive final of the karting season. All teams involved in the organization of such a big event collaborated to ensure the success of the RMCGF. More than 150 dedicated individuals from over 15 nations collaborated to make this event run as smoothly as it did. Members from BRP’s Rotax facility in Austria, BRP’s Rotax organizational staff, and chassis partners contributed to the success of the 15th annual RMCGF.  

The experienced and long-time chassis partners who supported this great karting venue include Sodikart for the Junior class, Birel for the 125 MAX class, IPKarting with its Praga chassis for DD2 Masters, CRG for DD2, and OK1 for Micro MAX class.

The Rotax MAX Challenge (RMC) is a professional kart racing series established, owned and organized by BRP and its Rotax kart engine distributors. Approved by and in compliance with CIK / FIA, the RMC is a "one-make-engine" formula: only Rotax kart engines that are checked and sealed (for equal performance) are approved. Essentially, being a successful competitor in the RMC does not depend on the engine, but it rather depends on the skills and ability of the drivers.
