50 years of success story: The golden wedding of Rotax and Bombardier!

The foundation day of Bombardier-Rotax was on March 5th, 1970, 50 years ago exactly! This year the 5th of March is Thursday and many employees at BRP-Rotax traditionally celebrate this weekday as a Leberkäse-Jause-Day. Because of that we are celebrating this important milestone in Rotax history with this local speciality. The Rotax management team invites all employees at site Gunskirchen to attend. Greetings and congratulations are also sent by Laurent Beaudoin, Chairman Emeritus and José Boisjoli, President, CEO, Director and Chairman of the Board.

1970 is a historic year for Rotax. Bombardier acquires Lohner-Werke and thus also Rotax. In addition to the great economic upswing, this development also closely welds together the connections between Canada and the family Bombardier.
The next decisive step for the company was completed in 2003 with the sale of the Powersports division.

The former Powersports division of Bombardier now becomes Bombardier Recreation Products Inc. (BRP Inc.) with Rotax as a subsidiary. This also sets the course for the future of Rotax as a premium manufacturer of powertrains for recreational products and significantly strengthens its market position.
