Can-Am wins races around the globe:
Hunter Miller Wins Final GNCC UTV Championship
Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo R racer Hunter Miller captured the 2018 Grand National Cross Country XC1 Pro Turbo UTV class championship with a solid second-place finish this weekend at the Ironman finale in Crawfordsville, Ind. The podium finish earned Miller his first career GNCC UTV class title and the last XC1 Pro Turbo UTV championship trophy in history. Can-Am pilot and XPS Lubricants athlete Kyle Chaney also made history, winning the final GNCC side-by-side vehicle race ever in his Maverick X3 Turbo R vehicle, but came up just six points shy of earning his third career GNCC title.
Blurton Wins BITD Laughlin Desert Classic
Defending Best in the Desert UTV Turbo class champion Phil Blurton (Can-Am /XPS Lubricants) continued his impressive run in the national desert racing series, winning the Laughlin Desert Classic night race in Nevada to kick off the weekend. Blurtons recent victory helped him build a bigger points lead in his pursuit of back-to-back titles in his No Limit RD-prepped Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo R side-by-side vehicle.
Corry Weller Wins LOORRS Championship
Can-Am Maverick X3 racer Corry Weller finished the 2018 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series strong by capturing the Production Turbo Championship. Weller took the win on Saturday at the series finale and then scored a runner-up finish at the Challenge Cup Race on Sunday to cap off a stellar season behind the wheel of her No. 748 Weller Racing / Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo R side-by-side vehicle.
Blurton Repeats As BITD Vegas To Reno Champion
Phil Blurton (Can-Am / XPS / No Limit RD) and co-pilot Beau Judge won the Pro UTV Turbo class and UTV overall with the No. 944 Can-Am Maverick X3 side-by-side vehicle at the 2018 BITD Vegas To Reno race. On paper, the back-to-back Vegas-To-Reno wins is outstanding in its own right, but when you factor in the number of competitors, brutal terrain, the race length and the fact that Blurton had to come from nearly 39th place in the class to finish in front of everyone was incredible. A 30-minute delay almost cost Blurton and Judge a chance at a win, but they rallied hard all the way to checkers and were rewarded with victory and the overall class points lead in the BITD series.
Desafio Inca Rally
Casey Currie and South Racing Can-Am headed to Peru last weekend for the Desafio Inca Rally which consisted of multiple days racing through the demanding Pacific coastal deserts and dunes around Ica, Peru.
Chaney Untouchable At Heartland Challenge
Kyle Chaney (Can-Am / XPS / CT Race Worx) put his Maverick X3 side-by-side vehicle in the winners circle at the 2018 Heartland Challenge in Carlisle, Iowa.
The Heartland Challenge, a difficult day-night, four-hour endurance race with a mix of short-course, cross-country and endurocross, forces man and machine to be ready for almost anything. Chaney, coming off a Lucas Oil Midwest Short Course Series win the weekend prior, had a little momentum on his side. Chaney, co-pilot Josh Martell, and their XPS-themed Can-Am Maverick X3 side-by-side vehicle proved up to the task. They took the lead about a mile from the start and then led the rest of the way. It was Chaneys second consecutive Heartland Challenge UTV race win. Can-Am racers also won the 900 class (non-turbo), posting a podium sweep, in Iowa.
Maverick X3 Racers at Rally dos Sertões in Brazil
Rally racing with the Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo R vehicle has grown tremendously since its global introduction two years ago. South America hosts several rally events and is currently holding the prestigious 26th Rally dos Sertões, Aug. 18-25, in Brazil. Can-Am Maverick X3 side-by-side vehicle racers have won the first three stages and own the top eight spots in the standings.
Can-Am / Varela Rally Team driver Reinaldo Varela and co-pilot Gustavo Gugelmin, winners of the 2018 Dakar Rally, have the early lead after winning stage 1 and keeping their advantage through stage 3 in South America. The No. 203 Maverick X3 side-by-side, driven by Enrico Amarante and Breno Rezende is currently second overall.
All seven stages of the Sertões Rally equal roughly 3,601 kilometers (more than 2,200 miles). The champions for all classes will be determined by Aug. 25 in Fortaleza.
