Valcourt, Québec, Kanada, 02. November, 2005 - Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) hat seine Mitarbeiter in Valcourt/Québec, Gunskirchen/Österreich und in Juarez/Mexiko darüber informiert, dass es die Fahrzeugmontage und die Montage ihrer ATV Motoren nach Mexiko verlagern wird. 

Der externe Druck durch den starken kanadischen Dollar und die Konkurrenz aus Asien führten dazu, dass das Unternehmen in ein Niedriglohnland geht, um die Rentabilität zu erhöhen. Diese Entscheidung zieht eine Investition von CAD 30 Mio. über die nächsten drei Jahre nach sich.

"Unser Ziel ist es, die Produktion weiterzuführen, dabei gleichzeitig die Rentabilität zu erhöhen und wettbewerbsfähiger zu werden. Wir haben verschiedene Szenarien analysiert und der Transfer unserer ATV-Produktion nach Mexiko ist einfach die sinnvollste Lösung." schloss er.

BRP-Rotax, das Unternehmen produziert die Motoren, welche die BRP Produkte antreiben, wird ein Werk in Mexiko für die Produktion von ATV Motoren einrichten. Dies ist die erste Investition von BRP-Rotax außerhalb Österreichs seit 85 Jahren.

Die Entscheidung wird keine Auswirkungen auf die Belegschaft von BRP in 2005 oder 2006 haben. BRP erwartet jedoch einen Abbau von 150 Mitarbeiter/Innen in Valcourt Ende 2007, sowie weitere 150 in 2008. Durch das wachsende externe Geschäft von BRP-Rotax wird es nur minimale bis keine Auswirkungen auf Österreich geben.

Ski-Doo® Schneeschlitten und Sea-Doo® Boote werden weiterhin in Valcourt produziert werden, da BRP derzeit eine CAD 10 Mio. Investition zur Erneuerung seiner Montagelinien abschließt, um Effizienz und Flexibilität zu steigern.
